I've noticed now that I've been cooking on the #5 that I have a gap of appx. 1/16" or so between the lid and the gasket on the body of the K. When I cook smoke (and therefore heat) comes out through that gap. Is this a concern? If so, is there a way to adjust it? This is a new #5 with stainless hardware.... |

Timscoles,I have a 5 that's 2 years old. It leaks a little smoke in the back left quarter but I can still hold a good low and slow. This makes me very reluctant to fool around with it. It still holds 200 - 225 with no problems. For some reason I don't believe it has always been that way. Probably due to the number of times I opened the top to put stuff in.. Also, I normally set one stay or whatever they are called to hold the lid up, thus one quarter leak ??? If it's new, I might let it be for a while. Good Luck. |

Daverow brings up an interesting point, if you consistently only use one of the "T" handles to lock the lid in the upright position, will this over time cause the lid to skew? Have any of you old timers (err experienced Kamado users) seen this, or is it not a problem? |

I've been using mine for a couple years and have only ever used the right hand T handle. No apparent skewing at all.

The gap on mine is at the front third or so of the circumference, by the way. |
